Cinderella is a timeless tale, and tells of a young woman's adventure from a lowly servant to a princess. Cinderella tells of the magic of fairy Godmothers and spells of love and also heartaches. It might just remind us that kindness could be the best virtue of all.

Cinderella, or "The Little Glass Slipper" as it is sometimes called, is a European folk tale. Cinderella has come to mean a person whose characteristics have been ignored.

There are many versions and variations of Cinderella. One of the most well known versions is the one originally written in French by Charles Perrault in 1697. The popularity of this version came with his additions of the pumpkin, fairy-godmother and the glass slippers.

There was a widower who took a second wife who was very proud and snobbish. She already had two daughters who were just as arrogant and greedy as she was. The widower and his first wife had had a beautiful daughter. She was good and good natured. The stepmother and stepsisters made a servant of the first daughter. She was made to work day and night doing lowly tasks and chores. She would then go to the cold, empty room she was given. She would lay near the fireplace to keep warm. Often she would arise covered in cinders. thus the nickname Cinderella.

Then, the prince of the land invited all young ladies to a ball. He was planning to choose a wife from among them. The stepsisters planned their wardrobe for the ball and teased Cinderella about not being invited.

Once the sisters left for the ball, Cinderellas Fairy Godmother appears and starts to change Cinderella to prepare her for the ball. She took a pumpkin and turned it into a golden carriage, mice into horses, a rat into a coachman and the footmen were actually lizards. Then she gave her a beautiful dress, and "glass slippers." The Fairy Godmother warned that all spells would be broken at midnight, so she should make sure she is home before midnight.

At the ball, everyone was mesmerized by her beauty. She was so taken with the prince that she lost track of time. She ended up leaving at the last stroke of midnight. As she was leaving, she lost one of her glass slippers. The prince found it and promised to find the girl who wore the glass slipper and marry her.

When the prince tried the slipper on Cinderella, of course it fit perfectly. The prince married her and they lived happily ever after.

Come enjoy an evening of magic and fairy tales. Its great to see one of your childhood stories brought to life on the stage.
